As the school year approaches, local golf teams are already in full swing—literally!
Here at Olde Homestead, we’re proud to serve as the home turf for both the Northwestern Lehigh and Palmerton High School golf teams. Leading Northwestern Lehigh is none other than our very own Tim Miller, who is now in his 14th season as a golf instructor at Olde Homestead Golf Club and currently serves as the school’s Varsity Golf Coach.
Our connection to student golf doesn’t stop there. Kevin Edwards, PGA Director of Golf at Olde Homestead, is also the Head Golf Coach at DeSales University. With over 18 years of collegiate coaching experience, Kevin has helped shape countless student-athletes into skilled and confident players.
Playing golf for a team comes with many benefits. Every time you tee off, you have the chance to set personal goals, challenge yourself, and improve your game. Players get to experience a variety of courses—often at no cost—while building valuable skills like discipline, self-reliance, and perseverance. The sport teaches young athletes to set goals, follow consistent practice routines, and learn from their mistakes, fostering a strong work ethic that extends far beyond the golf course.
The lessons learned on the golf course don’t stop when you walk off the green—they follow you right into the classroom. Every shot calls for focus and problem-solving, from judging distance to reading the terrain and wind. That same ability to stay present, think critically, and concentrate under pressure is a winning skill set for both the game and schoolwork.
As the season unfolds, we look forward to welcoming many local school teams to compete here at Olde Homestead. It’s always a good time watching these talented young golfers in action!
