About Us

Kids of Character is a non-profit community organization that promotes the development of good character in our children and youth.

The integrity of today’s youth impacts not only the quality of family life but also our schools, businesses, and our nation. By partnering with local businesses and organizations that touch the lives of our youth each day, Kids of Character strives to build strong character attributes in tomorrow’s leaders. It is our mission to inspire youth to become ethical, responsible citizens who will live lives of integrity and make good decisions in their personal lives, the lives of their families, and in their future community and work lives.

In February of 2009 Gwen Progracz, a former teacher, decided it was time to bring more character building focus back to the schools. In April of that year Kids of Character was incorporated. Since then the organization has gone on to develop partnerships with the U.S. Attorney’s Office - Eastern PA District’s Center for Leadership & Ethics, Character Education Partnership, Air Products, local Rotary Clubs, KidsPeace, DeSales University and the Forum for Ethics in the Workplace. These partnerships have enabled us to present the annual Communities Building Kids of Character seminar, the Lehigh Valley Youth Leadership & Ethics Conferences and the Character Education Roundtable. In addition we also engage in advocacy work as we speak to leaders of other youth organizations, parent organizations, service organizations and business leaders. Our main focus is providing professional development for teachers, guidance counselors, school nurses and mentors for the purpose of promoting the development of strong character in our youth.
